Last year, after a very successful Paris Game/AI Conference 2010, the DICE team suggested that we organize a workshop dedicated to first- or third-person shooters. I wondered at the time if we could pull off a whole day, but I'm glad to say I was proven wrong! Today, we're pleased to announce the schedule for the Paris Shooter Symposium 2011, an entire day focusing on action & combat games.
We have some amazing speakers and panelists lined up from the best studios in Europe — except the DICE team that's still busy on BATTLEFIELD 3. The event will take place on June 22nd, and bring together leading game studios from around Europe — including IO Interactive, People Can Fly, Ubisoft Paris, Crytek, and more.

The Shooter Symposium will be split into four parts, two in the morning and two in the afternoon. There'll be multiple coffee breaks included in between, and lunch also provided.
- Part 1, Morning — Animation, Locomotion
- Part 2, Morning — Behavior Logic
- Part 3, Afternoon — Combat Reasoning
- Part 4, Afternoon — Authoring & Scripting
Each part will include post-mortems and micro-talks from specific games, to give you multiple perspectives and help you get insights into the whole topic. There'll also be a panel discussion of the most difficult problems that everyone is facing, providing tips and tricks about how different developers solved those. (Click on the link above, or see the full Shooter Symposium page, for details of each part.)
